New Perspective Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps individuals in Florida, Georgia, or Ohio who are currently hospitalized due to a spinal cord injury. We accomplish this by assisting their family and friends with airfare, gasoline, and or lodging expenses, so they can travel to support the hospitalized individual in his or her time of need.

Our Beginning

New Perspective Foundation's co-founder, Tyson Gentry, walked on to the Ohio State football team as a punter/wide receiver his freshman year in 2004.  By the spring of his sophomore year, his coaches wanted him to focus exclusively on being a receiver.  During an intrasquad scrimmage on April 14, 2006, Tyson caught a pass over the middle of the field and hit the ground awkwardly as he was tackled.  He was instantly paralyzed from the neck down.  Over the following months–as he worked towards recovery–people from across the nation sent him cards, letters of encouragement, and prayers for recovery.  Others sent gas cards in order to help alleviate the costs of travel incurred by his family.  These acts of kindness from total strangers are what inspired Tyson to start New Perspective Foundation in April of 2014.

Our Vision
